MUTHUMANI – Film Actress

Muthumani Somasundaran started out as a theatre artist. She was introduced to the wide world of theatre during her school days at St Mary’s Convent Girls High School, Ernakulam. Her parents were passionate writers and artistes themselves.

She made her debut in Sathyan Anthikad's Rasathanthram in 2006. Rasathanthram happened when I was pursuing my law studies in Kochi.

In the meantime, Muthumani became a lawyer and was working in the audit and HR wing of a private bank for five years, but the world of entertainment industry was too compelling for her and she soon resigned and took up cinema and theatre in full earnest.

The actress who has shared screen space with with the big stars of Mollywood such as Mohanlal in Rasathanthram and Innathe Chinthavishayam, Dileep (in a song sequence in Vinodayatra) and Prithviraj in Manikyakallu. She was also seen in Annayum Rasoolum and Anchu Sundarikal. And now the actress has got a plum role in Ranjith’s Kadal Kadannu Oru Mathukutty, in which she plays Mammootty’s character’s wife, Jansy/Jansamma. 

Muthumani has just finished shooting for Ranjith's Kadal Kadannoru Mathukutty in which she will be seen as Mammootty's wife. She plays a nurse who travels all the way to Germany for a job. 

Muthumani had taken a break from cinema for a while only to return back with better roles and power packed performances.

She is married to Arun P.R., Muthumani is now focused on Prerana, her lifeskill training centre, which “gives need-based training for students, teachers and corporates.
