MAJOR RAVI – Film Director/Actor

Major A.K. Ravindran – (1st April 1953) was born to Sri. Kuttisankara Perumbara Nair & Smt. A. T Satyabhama in Pattambi, Kerala.

He joined the Indian army as jawan in 1969 and graduated from the Army Cadet College to become a commando in the year 1972. 

After working for around two decades for the Indian Army, he attained the rank of Major. Subsequently, he became a military consultant for Indian films. He has worked with Priyadarshan, Rajkumar Santhoshi, Kamal Haasan, and Mani Ratnam.

His first feature film is Keerti Chakra, a film on Kashmir militancy is a multilingual and emerged as a blockbuster.

He was part of the mission codenamed Operation One-eyed Jack to capture suspects of the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, the experiences of which inspired him to direct Mission 90 Days(2007). 

His third project Kurukshetra based on the Kargil war starring Mohanlal was a sequel to Keerthi Chakra

The 2010 film Kandahar did poorly at the box office, with the climax being cited as one of the reasons. The climax also bears remarkable similarity to the Hollywood action movie "Executive Decision".

He has earlier made a children's film, Toofan in Hindi in the year 1999, starring Dileep and Saba Khan, which had a last release in 2010, due to censoring issues which is also dubbed into Malayalam as Oru Avadhikaalam

His next film will be starred by Kunchako Boban.
